When I was about sixteen years old, I began working for a local caterer in order to earn a little spending money for the summer. Back then, the caterer did everything. It was what I would call a "turn key" job. In addition to the reception menu, the caterer would also provide the wedding cake, the napkins, the champagne, the invitations and just about anything else you could imagine. I was exposed to every detail of a wedding and I soon fell in love with the whole process. Today's weddings have become very specialized and planners and brides can easily find themselves dashing in many different directions in order to achieve one goal; the perfect wedding.
I continued to work for this particular caterer all through my high school years and after I graduated and got married, I was capable of pulling off a great party! Later on in my adult life, I did a small amount of private catering for special clients. It was very successful and I enjoyed it very much. After the millennium, I had the most important job of my life when I planned my only daughter's wedding.
Today, I do mostly consulting but my love of it all can still be found in the organization and exhausting work only to be found on that special day.
